My shocking Story: Half Man, Half Tree, extraordinary skin condition

32 year old Dede lives in a remote village in Indonesia with his two children, trying to care for them. Dede, a former fisherman, has an extraordinary skin condition: he has root like structures growing out of his body - branches that can grow up to 5cm a year and which protrude from his hands and feet, and welts covering his whole body.

Dr Anthony Gaspari, a world expert in skin conditions from the University of Maryland travels to Indonesia to attempt to diagnosis Dede's mysterious condition. He takes skin samples for biopsies back in the USA. What will he discover?

We go on an intimate journey with the extraordinary Dede, as he tries to eek out a living in a circus troupe to support his family, and as he is given medical help by Dr Gaspari. The identification and possible cure of his condition, could change his whole life.

Half way across the world, in Romania, farmer Ion Toader is discovered to have a similar extraordinary 'Tree Man' condition, with growths all over his hands. He has not been able to drive a tractor for five years. A Romanian surgeon offers to give him an operation to remove his growths.

History Channel - Dogfights (TV Series, Seasons 1-2)

Dogfights is a military aviation themed TV series depicting historical re-enactments of air-to-air combat that took place in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, as well as smaller conflicts such as the Gulf War, the Six-Day War and the Falklands War. The program, which airs on the History Channel, consists of former fighter pilots sharing their stories of actual dogfights in which they took part, and uses state-of-the-art computer-generated imagery (CGI) to give the viewer a better perspective of what it is like to partake in aerial combat ('camera' shaking when a plane makes a close pass or an explosion occurs close by adds to a realistic 'live experience', reminiscent of the Ace Combat game series). The series premiered on November 3, 2006.

Overview
In each episode, a true historical dogfight is played out. Pilots from the actual fights are brought in to re-tell their accounts of the battle. Along with the battle, there are occasional scenes that describe the pilot's living conditions and events that have happened outside the battle. Each battle is told by the pilot and a special narrator. CGI effects are used, providing a realistic simulation. Also, the show describes the planes. It takes some time to describe their advantages and disadvantages. It also describes air maneuvers and stunts pulled off by pilots. Usually, the battles told are the ones won by the American side of each war. Occasionally, there are other enemies brought into a dogfight, rather than planes. Sometimes, the pilots have to destroy ship fleets, or bomb enemy air fields, but the process is interrupted by enemy planes. After each battle, the show usually gives each pilot a short biography about future battles they might fight in, and then the credits role.

Nat Geo: Situation Critical: Downed Pilot

Nat Geo: Situation Critical: Assault On Entebbe

A routine flight from Israel to Paris carrying 258 passengers becomes the target for a gang of international terrorists in June of 1976. They hijack the flight and redirect it to Entebbe in Uganda. There they issue their demands: release 58 prisoners from around the world or the hostages die. It quickly becomes clear Israel is the real target of this attack. Nat Geo: Situation Critical: Moscow Theatre Siege

October 23, 2002. In the centre of Moscow, just a few miles from the Kremlin, over 50 Chechen terrorists storm the Dubrovka Theatre, home to Russia's first Broadway-style musical ""Nord-Ost"" and take all of the 900-strong audience hostage. Led by the notorious rebel Movsar Barayev, the terrorists rig the theatre with explosives as the audience is surrounded by female suicide bombers known as the ""black widows"". The terrorists demands? An end to Russia's long and brutal war with Chechnya. If these conditions are not met, everyone inside will die. Over the next three days President Putin refuses to negotiate with the Chechens and a plan is hatched to use a top-secret 'knock-out' gas which will immobilise both rebel and hostage alike. Initially a success, victory turns to disaster for Russia as hostages start to die in their dozens due to the effects of the gas. Nat Geo: Situation Critical:Al Qaeda Ambush

Six months after 9/11, the “War on Terror” is well underway as US military forces occupy Afghanistan. In March 2002, a group of elite navy SEALs attempt to land on a mountain peak in Afghanistan as part of Operation Anaconda. Intelligence tells them the area is clear but their Chinook helicopter immediately comes under heavy fire. In the confusion, navy SEAL Neil Roberts falls from the helicopter and is left on the mountain. His comrades return to rescue him but are overwhelmed by the strong Al-Qaeda opposition. They retreat and call in an Army Quick Reaction Force consisting of highly trained rangers in two Chinook helicopters, Razor I and II. Razor I unknowingly flies straight into the hot zone. The Chinook is immediately shot out of the sky and four men are soon killed. The rangers onboard Razor II are forced to land lower down the mountain and face a perilous two-hour hike through thigh-deep snow and mortar fire to reach their ravaged comrades. Over the next day, the rangers face a desperate struggle for survival against a well-armed Al-Qaeda force.

Deep inside Pennsylvania’s Quecreek mine, 18 workers descend for their evening shift on 24 July 2002. A few hours later, their lives are plunged into peril when one of the miners accidentally breaks through into a long abandoned mine – unleashing 60 million gallons of stagnant groundwater. Nine of the miners fight their way through the raging torrent and escape. The other nine retreat to the highest section of the mine, where they sit and wait to be drowned by the rising floodwater. Their only hope is that the feverish rescue operation underway 240 feet above their heads will reach them before the water does. 77 hours later, the miners are plucked to safety through a 30-inch wide rescue shaft, drilled by their heroic team of rescuers.

One wrong step by a climber on Mount Hood in the US leads to one of America's worst climbing disasters. Linked together by ropes, four climbers steadily trace a path down the mountain slope in May 2002 when one man loses his footing in the icy conditions and crashes into his partners. With no one able to gain footing, the group careens down the mountain, slamming into other climbers along the way. Nine men tumble into a gaping crevasse known as the Bergshrund - three are killed instantly. But for the six survivors, some badly injured, the fight is now to escape the crevasse. Fellow climbers group together to lift them to safety, but as a rescue helicopter approaches, a fresh disaster looms. With TV cameras running, the state-of-art Air Force helicopter loses power in the thin mountain air and crashes to the ground with five crewmembers inside. The lines between rescuer and rescued blurs on one of the most dangerous mountains in America.

BBC Lost Cocodriles of the Pharaoh

Student Tara Shine told yesterday how she became a real-life Indiana Jones when she went hunting a"lost" colony of Crocodiles, thought to have died out when the pharaohs disappeared. The intrepid 28-year-old tracked down the elusive reptiles in the remote African country of Mauritania, where experts said they could not exist.

Previously unknown exept by local tribespeople, the creatures live in burrows and caves throughout the dry season and periods of drought. Natives had been protecting the crocodiles for centuries, as supertition says their extinction would lead to already scarce water supplies completely dry up.

PhD student Tara built her own "tank-cam" to find out where the crocs survive the desert drought and brought back remarkable images of the reptiles living in the middle of a desert. Now, her two-and-a-half year mission will be told in this "Lost Crocodiles of the Pharaohs".
