"Once hunted to the brink of extinction, the gray whale has made an amazing comeback in the last 80 years. But in 1999 and 2000, these unique creatures, which live along the West Coast of North America, began to mysteriously disappear by the thousands. Their population dropped by one-third. Gray whales have the longest migration route of any mammal -- 8,500 to 12,000 miles -- and during their journey they pass some of the world's biggest cities, along some of the most polluted coastlines.

"Stretching more than 1,200 miles from Honolulu, the chain of islands and atolls known as the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI) is one of the most remote places on Earth. Home to one of the largest coral reef systems in the world -- nearly as vast as Australia's Great Barrier Reef - the NWHI archipelago composed of 10 islands and more than 100 reefs and shoals. They create a rich tropical marine environment and form the foundation of an ecosystem that hosts more than 7,000 species, including marine mammals, fishes, sea turtles, birds and invertebrates. Many are rare, threatened or endangered. At least a quarter of them can be found nowhere else on Earth. They are protected by America's largest National Wildlife Refuge, open only to scientists.

The islands are an extension of the more familiar Hawaiian Islands, but few people have ever set foot on them or dived in their surrounding waters. Their remoteness, inaccessibility and protected status shield them from tourists. Parts of the NWHI are truly unexplored territories. Because of infrequent human contact, these islands and reefs, vibrant and rich with diverse underwater and avian life, create an amazing habitat for unique endemic species.

In 'Voyage to Kure', Jean-Michel Cousteau and his team of 20 experienced divers and scientists travel for six weeks aboard the Searcher to the farthest edge of the NWHI, the remote Kure Atoll. Along the way, they stop to explore reefs and islands teeming with life and to meet the researchers and scientists working to protect these fragile ecosystems. The Cousteau team's goal is to explore a realm that seems beyond human impact, to show its wonders to the world and to encourage its protection. Using the latest diving, filmmaking and communication technology, they are truly modern-day explorers."

"Thousands of tons of war wreckage sank into the fabled lagoons of the South Pacific islands during the naval and air battles of World War II. But instead of devastating the region's underwater ecology, the detritus of human conflict turned into artificial reefs, upon which fantastic mini-ecosystems took shape. NATURE gives viewers a new perspective on wildlife in the South Pacific when its cameras board the WAR WRECKS OF THE CORAL SEAS.

The Solomon Islands and the waters that surround them constitute an enormous battlefield, where 60 years ago U.S. Navy and Marine forces began a monumental assault that eventually would drive Japanese forces northward, back toward their homeland. In addition to its enormous human toll, the fighting left countless ships and aircraft, including fuel and noxious cargo, on the beds of the formerly pristine shallow waters. Surprisingly, however, this intrusion into paradise did not repel wildlife from those waters. Instead, it attracted it."

In close collaboration with Professor Birute Galdikas, who has devoted her entire adult life to protecting and studying the orangutans of Borneo, Ms. Roberts is introduced to these endangered primates and comes to understand their unique, almost humanlike intelligence.

ORANGUTANS WITH JULIA ROBERTS follows the chain of events from the rescue of an orangutan to its return to the forest. The film introduces people who serve as foster parents for eight years or more until an orangutan is ready to be released back into the wild. The program also visits orangutans that have been returned to the forest and shows how they still recognize their former human caretakers' voices."

Nova Master of the Killer Ants 2008 COMPLETE

In the Mandaras Mountains of northern Cameroon live the Mofu - an ancient
tribe that shares its homes and crops with insects in a mutual balance of
survival. But this year, a terrible drought has hit the region and a legion
of termites has invaded their huts and granaries. To drive them out, the
Mofu shaman calls for help from Jaglavak, a ferocious red army ant protected
by a thick carapace and armed with pincers that cut, tear and slice
through anything in its path.
